Tinning

Click the Picture to Learn More About the Video Use the acid brush to apply the tinning butter. Be sure to apply it up to two inches beyond the area that you are going to lead.

Click the Picture to Learn More About the Video After letting the metal cool, wipe it down with a lacquer thinner to remove and oils and other contaminants. Then come back and wipe it down with a solution of backing soda and water. This will neutralize and of the acid in the material. Both of these steps are important because you don't want anything trapped under the lead you are applying.
