Tinning
 |
Use the acid brush to apply the tinning butter. Be sure
to apply it up to two inches beyond the area that you are going to lead. |
 |
Use the bronze wool to spread the tinning butter around. |
 |
After letting the metal cool, wipe it down with a lacquer
thinner to remove and oils and other contaminants. Then come back and
wipe it down with a solution of backing soda and water. This will neutralize
and of the acid in the material. Both of these steps are important because
you don't want anything trapped under the lead you are applying. |
